By Payton Tholstrup

Grow Clay County announced on July 22nd that they will be having a Sidewalk Art Contest at Piotique this year on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. The contest will take place from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and be located at the Block of 5th between Lincoln and Grant Avenue in Clay Center. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

The idea of a Sidewalk Art Contest was brought up in an Outreach Committee meeting, said Kathryn Doster-Tipsword, Lead Event Coordinator at Grow Clay County. “We thought this was a perfect contest to go with all of the murals we have in our community,” she said.

There will be 3 different categories: Youth for ages 8-13; High School for ages 14-17; and the Adult Group for ages 18+. Grow Clay County is considering reaching out to local artists to see if they would like to judge.

Registration details and more information will be released soon on their Facebook page.
