The preliminary hearing in the criminal case against former Marion Police Chief Gideon Cody has been delayed. According to the release, the hearing, initially set for May 21, 2025, has been postponed to July 23, 2025, at the request of the defense.
Cody is facing charges in case 24 CR 83, State v. Gideon Cody. The details of the charges have not been publicly disclosed at this time. The case has drawn public attention following Cody’s controversial involvement in a widely reported raid on a local newspaper in 2023.
The court granted the continuance to allow the defense additional time to prepare. Further updates are expected as the new hearing date approaches.
