Highway 24 and Columbian Road Intersection Improvement project

(POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, KS – April 7, 2023)
A Highway 24 and Columbian Road Intersection Improvement project in Wamego is set to begin Monday, April 17, 2023. The project will add traffic signals to the intersection. Additionally, a right turn lane for eastbound Highway 24 traffic south onto Columbian Road will be constructed. Left and right turn lanes and a through traffic lane will be added to Columbian Road both north and south of Highway
24. Highway 24 will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Heritage Drive/Cameron Circle and Commerce Drive with the right eastbound and westbound lanes closed to allow for construction work.
Columbian Road will be closed to through traffic from Highway 24 north to Henry Drive and south to Country Club Drive. Motorists will be able to access the USD 320 sports complex from the south. Bayer Construction, Manhattan, is the general contractor. The project is funded by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), the City of Wamego, and Pottawatomie County with the county administering the project. Work on this project is weather dependent and is expected to be completed by mid-June.
