The K-State women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the Jayhawk Invitational on Saturday with a final day against Kansas in Lawrence. Over three days, the Wildcats played 26 matches, finishing 9-8 in singles and 3-4 in doubles.
K-State was unable to earn a doubles win on Saturday. Freshman Martaa Chogsomjav and her sister, Maralgoo, suffered their first doubles loss of the season. One doubles match was left unfinished due to injury.
In singles play, Martaa Chogsomjav recorded the Wildcats’ lone victory of the day, defeating Heike Janse van Vuuren in straight sets. It marked her third straight win and capped a strong weekend for the freshman.
Several matches were tightly contested, including three-set efforts by Sasha Kyselova and Maralgoo Chogsomjav, both impacted by injuries.
K-State will open spring dual-match play on January 23 at Nebraska. The Wildcats and Jayhawks will meet again April 12 in Manhattan to close the regular season.
