With support from a new $250,000 investment, Kansas State University’s Kansas City Design Center (KCDC) will expand its reach beyond Kansas City to serve communities across the state.

The two-year funding comes from K-State’s One K-State Fund and supports the university’s Next-Gen K-State strategic plan. The expansion strengthens KCDC’s mission to promote sustainable, equitable design while giving students in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design hands-on experience working with civic leaders and local organizations.

This initiative focuses on community health and well-being—one of K-State’s key goals—by helping towns enhance their quality of life through improved design. Projects may include downtown revitalization, walkable neighborhoods, and green infrastructure.

The expansion reflects K-State’s land-grant mission to serve all of Kansas and showcases its leadership in interdisciplinary design, engagement, and place-based problem solving.

The One K-State Fund supports high-impact projects that align with the university’s strategic priorities and encourage broad collaboration across disciplines.
