In 2025, the Kansas State University Gardens will celebrate its 150th anniversary, marking a significant milestone of growth, service, and community involvement. This yearlong celebration will highlight the garden’s legacy of horticultural excellence with numerous events for the K-State and Manhattan communities.
The anniversary festivities will begin on January 11, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon at the K-State Alumni Center. Guests will hear about the gardens’ history from Chuck Marr, emeritus professor of horticulture, and enjoy a presentation by horticulturist Karl Gercens III of Longwood Gardens. Tickets for the kickoff event are available now.
First Lady Sally Linton will host Wine and Roses on February 25, 2025, at Union Hall, featuring a five-course wine pairing. Other events include the Forcing Bulbs Workshop on March 6, High Tea on March 29, and Konza Farm to Table on August 8. Popular annual events like the Run for the Roses, Garden Party, and September Stroll will also be part of the celebration.
The year will conclude with a holiday event on December 6, 2025. For a full event schedule and registration details, visit the K-State Gardens 150 website.
