Kansas State University’s grounds and landscape team works year-round to keep the 668-acre Manhattan campus safe, attractive, and welcoming. From tending more than 3,500 trees and planting thousands of flowers to clearing millions of cubic feet of snow, the 20-member crew ensures the campus looks its best for students, faculty, alumni, and visitors.

Campus appearance plays a key role in attracting prospective students and enhancing the overall student experience. The team collaborates with faculty and student groups, including horticulture students, to provide hands-on learning while maintaining lawns, gardens, and open spaces.

Their work supports K-State’s Tree Campus USA designation, promotes well-being, and showcases the university’s pride and identity. Special events like graduation, orientation, and Family Weekend highlight the importance of a well-kept, inviting campus that leaves a lasting impression on all who visit.
