Nebraska escaped with an 86-85 win over Kansas State on Friday night in the Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center. Senior Sam Hoiberg hit a clutch free throw with 0.6 seconds left to seal the victory.
K-State rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit behind strong performances from juniors P.J. Haggerty and Abdi Bashir Jr. Haggerty scored 27 points, setting a school record with six straight 20-point games to start the season, while Bashir added 26, including seven 3-pointers. Senior Nate Johnson chipped in 12 points.
The Wildcats led by as many as 10 in the second half but could not hold off Nebraska down the stretch. K-State shot 43.5 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three-point range.
K-State now falls to 5-1 on the season and will face unbeaten Indiana in their next game on Tuesday night in Bloomington.
