Kansas State’s second-half push wasn’t enough Saturday, as the Wildcats fell 47–44 to Green Bay at the Kress Center. K-State dropped to 4–3 on the season.
Junior forward Nastja Claessens led the Wildcats with a career-high 21 points and nine rebounds. Green Bay built a 23–16 halftime lead after an early 13–4 run and an 0-for-10 K-State start from three-point range.
The Wildcats outscored the Phoenix 28–24 in the second half and cut the deficit to one on a layup by Tess Heal with 1:36 remaining. K-State forced a turnover with seven seconds left but could not convert a final three-point attempt.
K-State shot 31.1 percent from the field and 2-of-23 from long range while holding Green Bay to 33.9 percent shooting. Gina Garcia added seven assists, and Taryn Sides collected seven rebounds. K-State now prepares for the Cancun Challenge beginning Thursday.
