Kansas State University Salina is launching a cutting-edge bachelor’s degree in immersive systems design, preparing students for careers in digital design, virtual and augmented reality, and human-computer interaction. This program, offered in collaboration with Pure Imagination Labs, allows students to develop skills in creating 3D virtual worlds, cyber-physical systems, and immersive applications that simulate real-world environments.
Courses will be taught through a hyflex model, enabling students to attend in person or online from anywhere with high-speed internet. The program’s technology will impact industries such as aerospace, education, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and entertainment.
A unique partnership with Pure Imagination Studios sets this program apart. The company, known for working with DreamWorks, Marvel, and FOX, is co-locating at K-State Salina’s K-AIRES Center. Students will collaborate with industry professionals, gaining hands-on experience in gaming, media, and interactive experiences.
According to Michael Oetken, program director, this collaboration offers students unmatched networking and career-building opportunities, preparing them for roles such as gameplay engineer, animator, or immersive content creator.
