K-State Splits Women’s Tennis Squad Across Two Midwest Events

The Kansas State women’s tennis team is competing in two tournaments this week, finishing day two in Milwaukee, Wis., and opening play in Lincoln, Neb.

Freshmen Martaa Chogsomjav and Margaret Jaraczewski are playing at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Chogsomjav has won three straight singles matches, including two on Friday. She defeated Purdue’s Ida Clement 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 10-7, then beat Ole Miss’ Alice Soulie 6-2, 6-3. The duo earned one doubles victory over Lipscomb’s Serafima Bobrovnikova and Martina Bovio.

In Lincoln at the Husker Invitational, freshmen Addison and Mallory Renfro, sophomore Zhanel Rustemova and freshman Diana Smolinska opened with doubles and singles matches. Rustemova and Smolinska won a tight doubles match over Iowa State, and Smolinska added a singles win over the Cyclones’ Gabriela Felix.
