K-State Upsets No. 23 West Virginia with Strong Start

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State ended its six-game losing streak with a 73-60 win over No. 23 West Virginia on Saturday night at Bramlage Coliseum.

The Wildcats (8-11, 2-6 Big 12) started fast, taking a 19-2 lead and building a 42-18 advantage by halftime. Dug McDaniel led K-State with 15 points and six assists. David N’Guessan added 14 points and four blocks, while Max Jones scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

West Virginia (13-6, 4-4 Big 12) tried to rally in the second half, cutting the lead to 12, but K-State stayed ahead. The Wildcats shot 47.3% from the field, compared to West Virginia’s 36.8%.

This was K-State’s second win against a top-25 team this season. The Wildcats return to action Wednesday against Oklahoma State.
