Kansas State senior center Sam Hecht has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced this week. The award honors the nation’s top football scholar-athlete for academic success, on-field performance and leadership.
Hecht is one of 178 semifinalists across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA and becomes K-State’s 12th semifinalist in as many years. Several previous Wildcats, including Tyler Lockett and Dalton Risner, advanced to the finalist stage.
Hecht has started 17 consecutive games at center since the start of 2024. He anchored an offensive line that set school records in rushing yards per carry and offensive yards per play, while allowing only 13 sacks. He is also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and has been active in community service.
