Kansas 4-H members will showcase their commitment to community service during the 13th annual 48 Hours of 4-H event, set for Oct. 11-12. The statewide initiative concludes National 4-H Week and encourages clubs to organize service projects during the 48-hour period.
The event allows members to put the 4-H pledge into action, contributing to their clubs, communities, and beyond. Projects are not limited to a 48-hour duration but must take place within that timeframe. Past projects have included community beautification, food and supply drives, serving meals, visiting nursing homes, and organizing special events.
Organizers emphasize that the goal is meaningful service that makes a tangible difference in local communities. Many groups continue long-standing partnerships, while others launch new projects tailored to community needs.
Clubs are encouraged to share their work on social media using #484H and #4HBeyondReady, and local media coverage is also welcomed.
The event also serves as an introduction to 4-H for prospective members, with the new 4-H year having begun on Oct. 1. More information on registering a project is available online.
More information about 4-H, including how to get involved, is available online, and from local extension offices in Kansas.
