Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach announced that 32 Kansas organizations will receive over $8.5 million in grants from the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board. This funding, the third round awarded by the board, will support substance use disorder services across the state.
The grants are funded through opioid settlement recoveries secured by the Attorney General’s Office. Priorities for the awards—established by the Kansas Prescription Drug and Opioid Advisory Committee in its 2023-2027 strategic plan—include treatment, recovery, harm reduction, and connecting individuals to care and support services.
“Based on feedback from the first year of grants, the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board refined its process to address urgent needs statewide,” said Assistant Attorney General Christopher Teters. “These funds will expand access to treatment programs, establish new recovery and sober living facilities, provide harm reduction tools like test strips and overdose reversal drugs, and enhance prevention efforts. The board remains committed to innovative, data-driven solutions to combat substance use disorder in Kansas.”
Originally capped at $6 million, the board increased funding by $2.5 million after reviewing 74 high-quality applications.
