The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) announced three contract awards on July 22, to support the development of its new Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). This project will modernize the state’s child welfare systems, replacing outdated technology with an integrated platform to improve services across Prevention and Protection Services (PPS) and Adult Protective Services (APS).

The CCWIS will streamline work for employees and partner agencies, consolidate multiple legacy systems, and enhance communication with organizations such as schools, courts, and law enforcement.

Three contracts have been awarded for the project: RedMane Technology LLC will lead design, development, and implementation under a $44 million contract. Maximus US Services, Inc. will provide independent verification and validation for $2.19 million. CSG Government Solutions will deliver quality assurance services under a $4.75 million contract.

The project is expected to cost $100 million over four years, with funding split between the State General Fund and Federal IV-E funds.

Work will begin immediately, with RedMane’s contract covering four years and options for renewal. Once complete, the system will meet federal CCWIS compliance standards.
