The Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition (KBC) has awarded $10,000 in funding to fourteen local breastfeeding coalitions. These local groups play a key role in supporting breastfeeding families, as they are closely connected to their communities and understand the specific challenges families face. The funding aims to help them address barriers and improve breastfeeding support where it’s needed most.

“More than 90% of families in Kansas choose to breastfeed,” said Stephanne Rupnicki, Chair of the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition Board. “Breastfeeding matters—for the health of our babies, our parents, and our communities. We’re honored to work alongside local coalitions to build strong support systems so families feel seen, heard, and lifted up in their feeding journeys.”

This funding moves Kansas closer to achieving the long-term health benefits of breastfeeding. By partnering with healthcare systems, providers, and public health professionals—and through impactful community initiatives—local breastfeeding coalitions are helping build a healthier future for families across the state.
