A Kansas car dealership owner, Kayode Ajibolade, was ordered to pay $394,197 after being found guilty of deceptive practices under the Kansas Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) according to a release. Ajibolade, who owns Carnation LLC, sold cars with undisclosed blown airbags, including one with a device that hid the airbag warning light. This violated a 2019 agreement where Carnation had already admitted to similar deceptive acts.
The court ordered $24,000 in restitution to affected consumers, $390,000 in civil penalties, and revoked the dealership’s license to sell cars in Kansas. Ajibolade was also banned from selling cars in the state. Consumers are advised to carefully check used car histories to avoid hidden airbag issues.
