Today, October 3 marks Manufacturing Day, a nationwide event recognizing the critical role manufacturers play in communities. In Kansas, manufacturing is a cornerstone of the state’s economy, driving innovation, providing high-paying jobs, and connecting local businesses to global markets. Kansas leadership issued a Proclamation honoring the industry and the workers who fuel growth statewide.

Kansas is home to 2,699 manufacturers, contributing $33.2 billion in value, or 14.1% of the state’s GDP. More than 174,800 Kansans work in manufacturing, earning an average of $88,416 annually. In 2024, Kansas exported $12.2 billion in goods, with top markets including Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, and Germany.

From aerospace to food production, Kansas manufacturers are shaping the future. While October 3 is Manufacturing Day, the entire month is dedicated to celebrating the industry, career opportunities, and the people behind Kansas manufacturing.
