Phone and internet services are essential for healthcare access, job searching, and emergency assistance, but many Kansans struggle with the cost. During Lifeline Awareness Week Sept. 8-14, the Kansas Corporation Commission is promoting the Lifeline program, which offers federal and state discounts of up to $17.02 per month for phone and internet services. Those on tribal lands can receive extra discounts. Nationwide, nearly 8 million people, including 23,000 in Kansas, benefit from the program.
