In late October, the Kansas Department of Agriculture hosted a beef genetics trade team from Canada, featuring representatives from progressive seedstock operations across Saskatchewan and Alberta. The team had diverse interests in various cattle breeds, including Black and Red Angus, Charolais, Hereford, and Simmental.
The trade team’s itinerary included visits to several notable locations: McCurry Angus Ranch in Burrton, Bar S Ranch in Paradise, Schrader Ranch in Wells, Fink Beef Genetics in Randolph, River Creek Farms in Manhattan, Sunflower Genetics in Maple Hill, Mid-Am Genetics in Muscotah, and the Jensen Bros. annual sale at Sander’s Ranch in Louisburg. The mission wrapped up at the American Royal livestock show in Kansas City.
Supporting all aspects of agriculture is a key mission of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, which aims to create opportunities for producers to market and sell beef genetics both domestically and internationally. This trade mission was facilitated by KDA’s membership in U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Inc. (USLGE) and funded through the USDA Market Access Program.
