Kansas Department of Agriculture Seeks Feedback for 2025 Bluestem Pasture Survey to Support Ranchers and Agriculture Industry

The Kansas Department of Agriculture is asking Kansans to provide feedback for the 2025 Bluestem Pasture Survey, which gathers information on the use and practices of native tallgrass pastures. Administered by the K-State Land Use Survey Center, the survey will be open until April 30, 2025.

The survey offers valuable data to Kansas ranchers and the agricultural community, covering topics like native tallgrass pasture availability, leasing rates, and fencing costs. It takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Mike Beam, Secretary of Agriculture, said the survey helps landowners and renters make informed decisions when entering lease agreements. The data collected supports the state’s agriculture industry.

The survey is voluntary, anonymous, and confidential. To participate, visit tinyurl.com/bluestem25. If you need assistance completing the survey, contact Dr. Leah Tsoodle at LTsoodle@ksu.edu or Heather Johnson at 785-564-6726 or Heather.C.Johnson@ks.gov to request a written survey or complete it by phone.
