Kansas Department of Labor to Launch New Unemployment Insurance System on Nov. 19, Enhancing Security and User Experience

The Kansas Department of Labor is launching the Unemployment Insurance Technology Enhancement (UITE) project, aimed at modernizing the experience for both employers and claimants. The new system is set to go live on Nov. 19, 2024, and will improve the unemployment insurance process in several key areas. It will streamline operations by enhancing workflow efficiency, data management, and inter-agency collaboration.

In addition, the system will offer an improved user experience with advanced customer relationship management, more self-service options, personalized communication channels, and better mobile access for claimants. Upgraded data security and enhanced cybersecurity measures will also ensure regulatory compliance and safeguard user data.

Renee Erickson, Chair of Unemployment Compensation Modernization and Improvement Council and Chair of Senate Commerce Committee. “The new system will offer improved security and greater ease of use for both individuals and businesses. I appreciate the diligence of all stakeholders in ensuring a successful implementation for Kansans.”

As part of this technology upgrade, the Unemployment Contact Center and the getkansasbenefits.gov site will be unavailable starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 8 a.m. During this time, claimants will not be able to file claims. Weekly certification for the week ending Nov. 16 will be available starting Nov. 19 at KansasUI.gov.
