Kansas Employers Compete in Statewide Challenge to Boost Volunteerism and Community Impact

Sixteen Kansas employers are joining the fifth annual Give Back Kansas Challenge, running from March 31 to May 23, to strengthen their communities through employee volunteerism. The statewide initiative encourages businesses to support and promote volunteer activities among their staff, offering a chance to give back while also fostering a more engaged workforce.

Participating employees can log their volunteer hours during the challenge for the chance to win prizes, including a $1,000 grant from Volunteer Kansas to donate to a nonprofit of their choice. Participation is free, and organizations are divided into three groups based on employee size. Winners will be selected based on the highest average number of volunteer hours per employee.

Studies have shown that employer-supported volunteering improves employee well-being and company culture. According to Forbes.com, it can also boost a company’s public image and foster a more empathetic, satisfied workforce.

Volunteer hours are tracked through an online portal throughout the challenge. By promoting volunteerism, Kansas employers are making a meaningful impact while encouraging teamwork and community involvement in the workplace.
