Kansas Exceeds December 2024 Tax Collection Estimates by $66.7 Million, Reflecting Strong Growth in Income Taxes

Kansas closed December 2024 with total tax collections reaching $1.1 billion, surpassing the estimate by $66.7 million, or 6.3%. This represents an 8.1% increase compared to December 2023.

Individual income tax collections totaled $451.5 million, exceeding the estimate by $31.5 million, or 7.5%, and rising 13.7% from the previous year. Corporate income tax collections were $275.4 million, $45.4 million, or 19.7% above the estimate, reflecting a 16.8% increase from December 2023.

Combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts totaled $285.4 million, falling short of the estimate by $13.6 million, or 4.5%, and decreasing by $17.0 million, or 5.6%, compared to December 2023.
