The Kansas Department of Transportation and the Drive To Zero Coalition hosted Drive To Zero Day at the Kansas State Capitol on Thursday, March 27. Launched in 2024, the event raises awareness about efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries in Kansas.

Drive To Zero Day highlights collaboration among communities, law enforcement, transportation experts, healthcare professionals, and first responders on life-saving road safety initiatives.

“This day recognizes our shared responsibility to educate and invest in efforts to reduce fatal crashes,” said Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed. “It’s a valuable opportunity to strengthen partnerships and advance our goal of zero traffic fatalities.”

Speakers included Reed, Kansas Highway Patrol Colonel Erik Smith, Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Janet Stanek, and Congressman Shannon Francis.
