The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has launched a new Travel & Health webpage to provide healthcare and public health partners with resources ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is expected to bring more domestic and international visitors to the Kansas City area.

Increased travel and large gatherings can raise the risk of infectious disease spread, including illnesses rarely seen in Kansas. Healthcare providers are encouraged to routinely consider patients’ travel histories when evaluating symptoms.

The Travel & Health webpage offers:

  • Current travel health notices
  • Disease-specific reporting and testing guidance
  • Infection prevention and control resources for healthcare facilities
  • Training webinars on domestic and international infectious diseases

Additional resources will be added in the coming weeks, including more webinars, a clinical support dashboard to search for outbreaks and endemic diseases by country, and a Kansas-specific dashboard tracking emergency department visits and wastewater surveillance data.
