In observance of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Attorney General Kris Kobach and Secretary of State Scott Schwab illuminated Memorial Hall in yellow on Monday to remind Kansans of the importance of remembering the Holocaust.
January 27 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, honoring the millions of victims, including over six million Jews, who were murdered in the Holocaust.
“Sadly, we are still confronting the evils of anti-Semitism and we must always remember the atrocities, so they are never repeated. I honor the lives of those lost,” said Secretary of State Scott Schwab.
“With the recent rise in anti-Semitism, it’s more important than ever to remember the evil of the Holocaust so that it never happens again,” said Attorney General Kris Kobach.
Memorial Hall, located in the Capitol complex in downtown Topeka, houses the offices of the Secretary of State and the Department of Agriculture. Earlier, following the October 7 attacks on Israel, the building was lit in blue and white.
