Kansas National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will take part in a number of Memorial Day events and ceremonies across the state.
Monday, May 26
Attica – Sgt. Maj. Heath Benge, senior operations sergeant major, 635th Regional Support Group, will be the guest speaker for a Memorial Day service at Attica Cemetery, west of Attica on NW 60th Road. The service will begin at 10 a.m.
Clifton – Clifton American Legion Post 227 will host a Memorial Day service at Berner Memorial Park, 634 E. Parallel Street, beginning at 10 a.m. Capt. Sewtana Nash, battalion assistant operations officer, 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery, will be the guest speaker for the event.
Fort Dodge – 1st Lt. Seth Bush will be the guest speaker at a Memorial Day service at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, 11560 U.S. Highway 440. The service will begin at 10 a.m.
Highland – Brig. Gen. Paul Schneider, director of the Joint Staff, Kansas National Guard, will be the guest speaker for a Memorial Day service at Highland Cemetery, 1674 Denmark Road. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Manhattan – Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 130th Field Artillery Brigade, will provide a three-round 75mm pack howitzer cannon salute for a Memorial Day ceremony at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road. The service will begin at 10 a.m.
Marysville – Sgt. Adam King, training noncommissioned officer, Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery, will take part in a Memorial Day ceremony at the city cemetery, 1508 Park Place. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
Topeka – Col. Molly Gillock, deputy chief of staff – logistics, will be the guest speaker for an 11 a.m. Memorial Day service at Mount Hope Cemetery, 17th and Fairlawn Road.
Command Sgt. Maj. Jeremy Byers, command sergeant major of the 1st Battalion, 635th Armor Regiment, and the Kansas National Guard command historian, will be the guest speaker for a “Taps Across America” Memorial Day service at the Combat Air Museum, 7016 SE Forbes Ave., Forbes Field. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m.
