The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Conservation is offering financial help to landowners affected by the February 2026 wildfires, including the Ranger Road, Stevens, Tennis, Andrew Lane, and Rawlins County fires.
The State Conservation Commission approved $151,000 through the Wildfire Recovery Initiative to help landowners in eight counties, including Barber, Clark, Comanche, Finney, Meade, Rawlins, Seward, and Stevens. Funds can be used for cover crops, temporary watering systems, and temporary electric fencing. Each landowner can receive up to $5,000.
Applications are open now through April 3, 2026, and must be submitted through local Conservation Districts. Eligible requests will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are used.
Landowners can find local Conservation District contact information at www.agriculture.ks.gov/ConservationDistricts.
