State officials and safety advocates will gather at the Kansas State Capitol on Wednesday, March 11, for Drive To Zero Day, an event focused on reducing traffic deaths and serious injuries across the state.

Hosted by the Kansas Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety, the event will highlight the state’s Drive To Zero initiative, which aims to eliminate fatal and serious crashes on Kansas roads through a “Safe System” approach that emphasizes safer drivers, roads and vehicles.

The public event begins at 9 a.m. in the second-floor rotunda at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. A news conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., featuring remarks from Calvin Reed, Janet Stanek, Matt Payne, and Shannon Francis, chairman of the Kansas House Transportation Committee. Following the news conference, coalition members and attendees will take part in an open house and networking session beginning at 10:15 a.m. The event will conclude at noon.
