The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) announced that applications for the 2025 SUN Bucks program are now open. SUN Bucks, formerly called Summer EBT, helps families buy groceries during the summer by providing a one-time payment of $120 per eligible school-aged child.
If a child’s household did not receive a SUN Bucks eligibility letter from DCF in January, they can apply online through the DCF self-service portal at dcfapp.kees.ks.gov. All applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2025.
Children are eligible if they attend a Kansas school that offers free or reduced-price meals and meet income requirements, or if someone in their household has received SNAP or TANF benefits since July 2024. Children in foster care or the custody of DCF must apply after April 1 to ensure benefits go to the correct address.
In 2024, SUN Bucks provided over $15 million to help 127,202 Kansas children. More information is available at SUNBucks.dcf.ks.gov.
