Kansas Schools Awarded $100K in Grants for Student-Led Health and Wellness Projects

Students across Kansas are getting financial help to pursue their goals. On April 21, twenty-one middle and high schools in the state received part of a $100,000 grant through the Be the Spark project. Blue Cross & Blue Shield and the Kansas Association for Youth are partnering to support student-led projects that focus on physical activity, mental health, or healthy eating.

At Washburn Rural High School, the grant will be used to add flexible seating to the library and English classrooms. The goal is to create a space that benefits as many students as possible since all students use the library and attend English classes.

Next, each school will begin putting their grant funds into action, turning their ideas into real improvements for their students.
