The Kansas Supreme Court is inviting public feedback on proposed changes to the child support guidelines.
Written comments can be emailed to publiccomments@kscourts.gov by 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, with “Child Support Guidelines” in the subject line.
A version of the guidelines showing the proposed changes with strikethroughs is available on the Kansas judicial branch website’s child support guidelines page.
These updates were proposed by the Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee following the passage of 2025 House Bill 2062, which became law on April 10.
Effective July 1, the bill changes how individual retirement accounts are considered under child support laws (K.S.A. 23-3002). It also adds a requirement for the court to consider a mother’s direct medical and pregnancy-related expenses when setting child support (K.S.A. 20-165) and establishes rules for ordering this support.
