Kansas Tax Collections Beat April Estimates but Fall Below Last Year’s Totals

Kansas ended April 2025 with total tax collections of $1.33 billion, exceeding estimates by $17.6 million, or 1.3%. However, collections were down 5.9% compared to April 2024.

Individual income tax collections totaled $684.8 million, coming in $10 million (1.5%) above the estimate but 7.5% lower than the same month last year. Corporate income tax collections reached $316.5 million, exceeding expectations by $1.4 million (0.4%) but dropping 6.4% from April 2024.

Retail sales and compensating use taxes brought in $296.3 million combined, which is $5.5 million (1.9%) above the estimate and $1.2 million (0.4%) higher than the previous year.
