Representative Sharice Davids announced that 14 community projects from Kansas’ Third District she submitted have been included in the Fiscal Year 2026 U.S. House Appropriations Committee bills. These projects, totaling $11,857,146, aim to rebuild aging roads and bridges, strengthen public safety and law enforcement, expand water access during extreme weather, and address other critical community needs.

The projects must still pass both the House and Senate before reaching the President for approval. Rep. Davids is calling for bipartisan cooperation to keep the government running this fall and ensure these funds reach Kansas communities. Each project was developed with local officials and selected for its potential to improve health, safety, and economic opportunity in the Third District.

Key projects include road and bridge upgrades like the Kansas Avenue Bridge ($1.2 million) and Spring Hill intersection improvements ($850,000); public safety initiatives such as Overland Park Police body cameras ($1.03 million) and a new New Century AirCenter control tower ($2 million); water infrastructure projects in Bonner Springs, Olathe, and Princeton; education support at K-State Olathe ($1.04 million); energy upgrades for BPU’s electric grid; and public space refurbishments, including parks and municipal facilities across the district.

These projects follow strict transparency and accountability rules to ensure taxpayer funds are used effectively.
