U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), announced Thursday that the Trump Administration will provide $5.7 million in emergency aid to Kansas. The funding follows a letter of request submitted by Senators Marshall and Jerry Moran, along with Representatives Tracey Mann, Derek Schmidt, Sharice Davids, and Ron Estes. Senator Marshall said President Trump personally called him to share the news.
The aid comes in response to severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that struck Kansas communities between June 3–7. Hard-hit counties include Barber, Butler, Chase, Coffey, Cowley, Franklin, Greenwood, Harper, Hodgeman, Kingman, Lyon, Morris, Osage, Stanton, Sumner, and Wallace. Funds will also support Hazard Mitigation projects across the state.
Earlier this year, the Trump Administration awarded Kansas $6.7 million in disaster relief to help communities recover from a tornado outbreak that impacted Bourbon, Cheyenne, Edwards, Gove, Kiowa, Logan, Pratt, Reno, Scott, Sheridan, and Stafford counties.
