Kansas Trails Inc. is inviting residents from across the state to celebrate Trail Appreciation Day at the Kansas State Capitol Rotunda on Thursday, March 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The day-long event will highlight the people, partnerships and projects that make trails an important part of Kansas communities. Trail advocates, local organizations and policymakers will gather to showcase how trails support public health, economic development, tourism and overall quality of life.

“Trails connect more than places- they connect people, communities, and opportunities,” said Mike Scanlon, Executive Director of Kansas Trails Inc. “Trail Appreciation Day is a chance to showcase the incredible work happening across Kansas and to elevate the importance of continued investment in trails for generations to come.”

Interactive exhibits from trail systems and organizations across the state will give attendees a chance to learn about current projects, success stories and future plans. The program will also feature a keynote address by Tobias Schlingensiepen, along with visits from other state senators and representatives who support outdoor recreation and community infrastructure. Trail Appreciation Day is open to the public, but registration is required. The event is hosted by Kansas Trails Inc. with support from Sunflower Foundation.
