Kansas wheat producers are encouraged to enter the 2025 National Wheat Yield Contest, now in its 10th year. Organized by the National Wheat Foundation, the contest helps farmers improve yields and quality while competing for prizes.
The competition features four categories: dryland and irrigated winter wheat, and dryland and irrigated spring wheat. Fields must be at least five continuous acres, planted with certified, branded wheat seed. Contestants must retain a 10-pound grain sample for quality testing. Top state entries will be recognized, with national winners receiving a cash prize and a trip to the 2026 Commodity Classic in San Antonio.
A new Digital Yield plot category allows Kansas dryland winter wheat growers to submit yields using digital tools. Entries are due by May 15 for winter wheat and August 1 for spring wheat. More details and entry forms are available at wheatcontest.org, with fee vouchers available from sponsors.
