The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will hold public hearings in Wichita and Topeka starting next week to give Evergy Kansas Central customers a chance to learn about the company’s proposed rate increase, ask questions, and share comments with the Commission.

In January, Evergy requested a $196.4 million rate hike, which would raise electric rates by 8.62%. If approved, residential customers would see an average monthly increase of $13.05, starting in September 2025.

Customers can attend the hearings in person or join virtually through Zoom. Those participating online must register by noon the day before the hearing using the provided links. The hearings will also be livestreamed and recorded on the KCC’s YouTube channel for later viewing. No registration is needed for in-person attendance or YouTube access.
