The Kansas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for a second round of funding through the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program. Funded by a $6.46 million cooperative agreement with the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service, the program awarded 49 grants in its first round earlier this year.
This second round offers Simplified Equipment-Only Grants, with awards ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. These fixed-price grants cover equipment costs only, with no matching funds required. All equipment purchases must be completed by December 31, 2025.
Eligible applicants include Kansas food and farm businesses, nonprofit organizations, local and Tribal governments, and institutions like schools and hospitals. Entities that received funding in the first round are not eligible for this round.
Applications must be submitted to the Kansas Department of Agriculture by 5:00 p.m. CT on July 18, 2025. Details and the Request for Applications are available at agriculture.ks.gov/RFSI.
RFSI aims to strengthen the middle of the food supply chain by supporting infrastructure for local food production, excluding meat and poultry. Grants will be competitively reviewed based on need, impact, and feasibility.
