The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s annual photo contest opens June 1 and runs through August 1, inviting photographers to showcase the beauty of Kansas agriculture. This year’s contest includes four photo categories—Picture Perfect Prairie, Farm Animals, Agriculture at Work, and Farm Fresh—highlighting the state’s natural resources, farm life, crop production, and daily ag activities like planting or working livestock.
A separate Youth Division is open to photographers age 18 and under. New this year, a video category will accept short clips under 30 seconds, such as drone footage or harvest scenes. Prizes will be awarded to the top two entries in each of the six categories.
Photos must be in .jpg format and videos in .mp4 or .mov. Submissions should include a title, brief description, location and date taken, the entrant’s name, age, category, hometown, and email. Email entries to KDA.PhotoContest@ks.gov.
Winning entries may be featured in KDA publications, websites, and social media. Full guidelines and rules are available at agriculture.ks.gov/PhotoContest. Public voting for finalists begins in mid-August. For more details, contact Heather Lansdowne at Heather.Lansdowne@ks.gov or 785-564-6706.
