The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has announced the recipients of the 2026 Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) Community Grant. This year’s program supports 15 grantees across 25 counties, reaching nearly 2 million Kansans, or about 65.5% of the state’s population.
The CDRR Community Grant Program provides funding, training, and technical assistance to help communities implement evidence-based strategies that reduce chronic disease risks by addressing tobacco use, physical activity, and nutrition. Key initiatives include preventing youth tobacco use, promoting tobacco cessation and the Kansas Tobacco Quitline, reducing secondhand smoke exposure, encouraging physical activity, and improving community nutrition.
The 2026 grantees and their service areas include Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation, which covers Mitchell, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Ottawa, Republic, and Smith counties.
