The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) announced that it, along with the Kansas Hospital Association and the Kansas Midwives Alliance, has recognized healthcare providers for their work in newborn screening. The sixth annual awards were announced earlier this month by KDHE’s Kansas Newborn Screening Program (KS-NBS).
This year, 26 providers received a Gold Award and 30 received a Silver Award for their dedication to high standards in newborn screening. The full list of awardees is available on the program’s website.
The Kansas Newborn Screening Program, which began in 1965, tests newborns for rare but serious conditions at no cost to families. Early detection helps ensure babies with these conditions get timely care and the best chance for healthy development.
