The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced it has installed new speed limit signs on Aug. 25 along U.S. Highway 24/40 through Basehor to improve safety. The speed limit has been reduced from 65 mph to 55 mph to encourage safer driving in this area.
The new limits apply to westbound traffic from just west of 150th Street to about a half-mile west of 158th Street, and eastbound traffic from about a half-mile west of 158th Street to just west of 150th Street.
KDOT also plans to install dynamic speed feedback signs later this fall. These signs will show drivers their current speed, providing an extra reminder to slow down and follow the new limits.
