Dee Kennedy of the Kansas State Wildcats baseball continued his standout start to the season by earning two national weekly awards on Tuesday (February 17).
The junior was named the Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week by the College Baseball Foundation, honoring the nation’s top shortstop. He also earned the National College Baseball Writers Association Dick Howser Trophy Co-National Hitter of the Week. Kennedy was selected to Baseball America’s Week 1 National Team of the Week.
Kennedy drove a team-high 13 RBI over the three-game Opening Weekend, hitting .538 with five extra-base hits, including two grand slams. He posted a 2.010 OPS and was successful in all five of his stolen base attempts. Kennedy’s performance helped the Wildcats dominate early, including a 24-5 win over Penn State.
