Late Push Falls Short for Wildcats at Arizona State

Kansas State came up just short on the road Saturday, falling 87-84 to Arizona State at Desert Financial Arena. The Wildcats trimmed a nine-point deficit to one in the final seconds, but Moe Odum sealed the game with two free throws.

Junior P.J. Haggerty led all scorers with 25 points, recording his 11th 20-point game of the season. Fellow junior Abdi Bashir Jr. added 22 points, knocking down six three-pointers as the pair combined for 47 points. K-State finished with 13 made threes to stay within reach.

Arizona State built its advantage in the paint and on the glass, outscoring K-State inside and winning the rebounding battle. Odum scored 21 points for the Sun Devils, while all five starters reached double figures.

The loss dropped K-State to 9-7 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats return home Wednesday to face No. 25 UCF.
