U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, congratulated Dan Wiley of Leavenworth on being elected the 2025–2026 National Commander of The American Legion.
Wiley has held 24 positions in the Legion, from local posts to the national level. He has also led the Leavenworth County Veterans Day Parade Committee twice and served as Master of Ceremonies at the Leavenworth National Cemetery Memorial Day event for more than 15 years.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Wiley later earned a law degree from the University of Kansas. In 2008, Governor Kathleen Sebelius appointed him as a Kansas State District Court Judge, where he helped create the Leavenworth County Veterans Treatment Court.
Wiley and his wife, Sonia, have two children, Austin and Christy, who are also part of the Legion family.
