Governor Laura Kelly has proclaimed March 19 as Kansas Agriculture Trade Day to recognize the significant impact of agricultural trade on the state’s economy, farmers, and communities. The day honors Kansas’ farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses for their essential role in feeding the world.
Kansas agricultural producers are globally competitive, contributing to both local and international food security. Agriculture is a key driver of the state’s economy, with Kansas being a leading producer of sorghum, wheat, and beef cattle.
In the declaration, Governor Kelly highlighted the state’s contribution to international trade, noting that Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses drive innovation, sustainability, and high-quality agricultural products. In 2024, Kansas exported over $4.75 billion in agricultural products to 94 countries, ranking 8th in the U.S. for agricultural exports. The top destinations for Kansas exports are Mexico, Japan, China, Canada, and South Korea.
