Employees at Memorial Health System in Abilene took part in a January “Jeans Day” fundraiser, raising money for a local nonprofit. Staff members donated at least $2 for the chance to wear blue jeans at work during the month. The effort raised $892, which was presented to Laundry Love of Abilene.
Laundry Love supports individuals and families by helping cover the cost of washing clothes and bedding. The program focuses on providing dignity and practical help to people who need extra support. It is part of a nationwide network that works with local groups and laundromats to offer free laundry services.
In Abilene, Laundry Love hosts free laundry nights on the third Thursday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m., with sign-up starting at 5:45 p.m. Volunteers pay for up to five loads per household. The service is open to anyone in need, with no income requirements or screening.
